Mask for Eight Friends

Hand sewn and ruched cyanotyped linen garment. To be worn by four people, there are eight total sections, with four sections on each side. The cyanotyped collage on each section details objects or photos that remind me of a specific friend. Each double sided sewn panel creates a “mask” that can be worn either way — so that any participant wearing it embodies the friend. Each mask is connected by the same piece of fabric, creating a sense of interconnectedness and reinforcing the idea of friendship. Friends in in left to right order: Anna, Chloe, Eileen, Matt (top), Josh, Kayla, Emily, Sophia (bottom).
